2026 Can-Am Matches will be held March 21-22

WHO: The top 16 junior golfers from the Province of Ontario will take on the top 16 junior golfers from South Carolina (eight boys and eight girls per team). Players are selected based on a ranking system in both South Carolina and Ontario.

WHAT: The objective is to establish and maintain an annual junior golf competition between the Province of Ontario and the State of South Carolina in celebration of our great relationship with Canada, the Can-Am Days, and in growing the game of golf.

WHEN: The tournament takes place on the third weekend in March in conjunction with the Can-Am Days Celebration held annually in Myrtle Beach to celebrate the relationship between the United States and Canada.  This year's Can-Am Tournament will take place on March 21st - 22nd 2026.

WHERE: The competition is hosted by Wachesaw Plantation Club (WPC).

HISTORY: This annual event was initiated by the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation several years ago in conjunction with Can-Am Days, which are celebrated every Spring on the Grand Strand of Myrtle Beach. It began as an opportunity to invite our young northern friends to South Carolina for a dose of Southern Hospitality coupled with some stiff competition, and it has quickly become an event of international importance. In 2010, the Matches took a positive step forward when we included the top eight (8) girls from each delegation as well!

This year marks the 26th Can-Am Junior Team Matches. Twenty-four (24) years ago, the Can-Am Junior Matches were rescued by the Wachesaw Plantation membership when the original site closed. By offering their leadership and eventually WPC's course itself, the competition has become one of the most anticipated events of the year.

The success of our past participants speaks for itself: over ninety of the participants in these matches have gone on to play competitive golf at the collegiate level. We even have an NCAA Individual National Champion, NCAA National Team Champions, a USGA Public Links Champion, US Women’s Amateur Champion, President Cup participants, President Cup and Ryder Cup Vice Captain, PGA Tour Winners, and a FedEx Cup Champion.  We have even seen past participant, Wesley Bryan, go on to be the only native South Carolinian to win the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing!

Spectators who do not reside in Wachesaw Plantation need to stop at security when entering the Plantation and let them know you are here to spectate at the Can-Am Tournament.  After entering the Plantation, proceed straight until you come to a T in the road.  Turn right toward the Golf Pro Shop if you wish to park near hole #1 or turn left toward Kimbels if you wish to park near hole #18.

Spectators will not have access to golf carts or other means of transportation around the golf course.
Various food and beverage outlets will be available throughout the weekend at the Club if participants, spectators, coaches, etc. would like to purchase food.  Food and beverage may be purchased by non-members at any of the three outlets using a credit card.

Kimbels is the Club's fine dining restaurant, but does have a more casual tavern area.  Kimbels is open for lunch on Friday from 11:30am-2:30pm and will offer a Can-Am Brunch/Lunch on Sunday beginning at 10am through the end of Can-Am.  Kimbels is also the location of the Can-Am Dinner on Friday night (by invite and registration only).

The Clubhouse Tavern offers beer, wine, cocktails, sodas, snacks, candy and cigars.  It is located on the second floor of the Clubhouse.  The Clubhouse Tavern is open Friday and Saturday from 8:00am-6:00pm.
Parking is limited, so please plan to walk once on property.  There are three main parking areas.  One is located near the Clubhouse and Golf Shop.  Another is located at Kimbels.  The third area is called the Tennis Overflow Parking and is located on the left hand side of the road as you travel toward Kimbels.  Tennis Overflow Parking is a dirt parking area.
